Congress gets data driven, start analytics department

Signalling that the Congress party is getting ready to change the way it functions, Congress president Rahul Gandhi renamed the the party’s computer cell as the Data Analytics Department and appointed former investment banker Praveen Chakravarty as its head.

Tagging a photo of Mr. Chakravarty and him, Mr. Gandhi tweeted, “Excited to announce a ‘Data Analytics’ department under the leadership of Praveen Chakravarty to effectively use ‘Big Data’.”

Artificial Intelligence will open up new avenues

Citing the incident where Facebook had to abandon an experiment undertaken last year where two artificially intelligent programs or chat bots appeared to be chatting to each other in a strange language which they developed on their own and only they understood, Dr. Jitendra K. Das set the tone of the conclave on “The Confluence of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics” held recently at the FORE School of Management, New Delhi, in association with BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Dr. Das further explained how with the help of complex virtual learning techniques, a wide range of physical and cognitive tasks are being managed today with a high level of efficiency and accuracy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked tax officials to use data analytics to track undeclared wealth and fix clear targets for improving tax administration by 2022. Inaugurating the second edition of the annual ‘Rajaswa Gyan Sangam’ — the joint conference of direct and indirect tax officials — the Prime Minister asked taxmen to clear pendency of cases and create an environment that instills confidence among honest taxpayers and uproots corruption.
